Eva Saks

Eva Saks is a native New Yorker. She is a graduate of the Fieldston School, Yale College, Yale Law School and New York University Film School (MFA in Filmmaking May 2005). For the past two seasons, Eva has been writing and directing live-action comic shorts for SESAME STREET. For 2005-2006, she wrote and directed four live-action comic shorts about children and health for SESAME STREET and for the next ELMO homevideo, ELMO'S GOES TO THE DOCTOR (distributed by Sony Wonder).

While in film school, Eva won a Student Academy Award for her film FAMILY VALUES, which screened at Sundance, Telluride, Tribeca, and worldwide. FAMILY VALUES is distributed by Docurama and available on Netflix.

Eva recently finished two new shorts for young people, KYLIE GOLDSTEIN ALL AMERICAN (a documentary about Chinese adoption) and GETTING MY GOAT (a comedy about sibling rivalry). These shorts made their world premiere in June 2005 at the Brooklyn Museum, at the Brooklyn International Film Festival's Children's Film festival.

Eva's award-winning shorts CONFECTION and COLORFORMS are currently airing on IFC in the US, as well as in Japan, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands. Her films have have screened in film festivals all over the world - including Sundance, Telluride, and Tribeca - in Canada, Central American, South America, Europe, Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Asia, Indonesia, and Africa. They are non-exclusively licensed to: LeVar Burton's Tadpole DVD, Film Movement, Spiritual Circle Cinema, etc.

Awards/Major Grants include the BAFTA Award for Best Short at Mill Valley (for COLORFORMS), a NYSCA Grant (for FAMILY VALUES), Audience Choice Awards at Stony Brook 2003 & 2004 (CONFECTION & COLORFORMS), Chicago Internat'l Children's Film Fest Kid's Jury Prize (COLORFORMS), Zoinks Toy Store Family Film Fest Award (to CONFECTION and COLORFORMS), and the Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAMMIE (COLORFORMS).

Eva is especially proud of her 35mm trilogy TRIO, which celebrates post-9/11 New York City and America, in all their multi-cultural glory. TRIO -- which consists of the shorts CONFECTION, COLORFORMS and DATE -- is licensed to IFC and to the National Black Programming Consortium.

She is currently developing several "family-friendly" book, television and film projects.
