Susann Rüdlinger was born and raised in Zürich, Switzerland where she went to school and studied French and English. In 1973, she completed her commercial diploma and soon thereafter joined the staff of Switzerland’s largest daily paper in charge of planning the culture section.
In the mid-1970s, her interest in film led her to Swiss Public Television and by 1979 she was working at a major Swiss film production company as a production manager. In just a short time, she made a name for herself as an organizational talent and, starting in the mid-1980s, she began working as a freelance production manager and line produce for important Swiss directors.
By the early 1990s, her production know-how, language skills and wealth of experience had made her one of the most sought-after director’s assistants in Europe. She worked on encreasingly more important films and with ever more prominent directors in Switzerland and abroad. As 1st AD, her communicative style and strong personality have made her an ideal partner for such directors as Oscar-winner Xavier Koller, the Canadian filmmaker Lea Pool or the French director Michel Deville.
Since December 2002, Susann Rüdlinger has been a producer at Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion where she primarily focuses on feature film projects.
