Dan Lee West
After moving to Canada from Australia at the age of sixteen, Dan turned his high school job of ushering Calgary’s movie theatres into a film career when he graduated from the Vancouver Film School in 2002. Winning best student director and best film at the 2003 Leo Awards for his first short film Alarium, Dan was subsequently hired as a production intern at the prolific Vancouver production company Brightlight Pictures and after two years of budgeting and financing experience left the company to freelance on various projects. Dan directed 2nd Unit on the Universal horror film Slither and was a recipient of the 2005 Kickstart grant provided by the Directors Guild of Canada. Dan’s latest short film The Visitor recently secured DVD distribution through the Film Movement in New York and will premier at the 2007 Whistler Film Festival. Dan is currently working on the NBC series “Bionic Woman” and directing a documentary on infamous German film director Uwe Boll.
