Born in Tokyo in 1979, Yoshikawa became well-known as a fashion model in magazines, thanks to her striking looks and charming character. She made her first movie appearance in 1997, in the leading role, for which she won the Japanese Academy Award for best new actress. She also appeared in the French movie Tokyo Eyes (Dir. Jean-Pierre Limosin), and her powerful performance won acclaim for her in France, too. Since then she has appeared in commercials and worked in the music industry. Who's Camus Anyway? marks her return to the big screen.
