Synopsis

Join an investigation into the conviction of Ross Ulbricht, creator of the anonymous digital drug marketplace, the Silk Road. Weaving interviews with Silk Road operators and the FBI agents who took them down, Deep Web provides a balanced look into the future of digital rights and cybersecurity. In the vein of documentaries like Citizen Four, the film questions mainstream media narratives - for example, was Ulbricht truly a drug kingpin or just a bright-minded idealist? The film covers an array of pertinent educational subjects including Cryptocurrency, Ethics, Free Culture, Anarchy, Globalization, Interweb Law and Ethics, Libertarian Philosophy, Net Neutrality, and the United States' War on Drugs.
