Film Movement is a full-service North American distributor of critically acclaimed award-winning independent and foreign films. Film Movement has released films from 25 countries and six continents, including top prize winners from Sundance, Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin, Tribeca and many other prestigious festivals.
The company’s goal and mission is to put its films in front of the largest possible audience. To meet this challenge Film Movement aggressively pursues all traditional and emerging channels of film distribution.
Theatrical Distribution
Film Movement has ongoing relationships with some of the best art-house theaters in the country, including the Angelika Film Center, Quad Cinemas, and Cinema Village in New York, Laemmle and Arclight Theatre in Los Angeles, Facets Cinematheque and Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, Coolidge Corner and Brattle theatres in Boston, Roxie Theatre in San Francisco, Starz Film Center in Denver, and Hollywood Theatre in Portland, just to name a few.
Institutional Distribution
Film Movement films screen at thousands of libraries, universities, film societies, and cultural institutions. Places such as the Film Society of Lincoln Center, American Film Institute, Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Smithsonian Institution, Queens, NY public libraries and many, many more present Film Movement films on a regular basis.
Television Distribution
Film Movement has partnered with various television channels and networks. Our films have run coast-to-coast on PBS, Showtime, Independent Film Channel, Sundance Channel, AZN networks, and others.
DVD Rental Distribution
Our films are available for rental at both Blockbuster Online and Netflix.
Retail Distribution
Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, DVD Empire, and Overstock.com, are just a few of the large retailers selling Film Movement films.
Wholesale Distribution
All of the major wholesalers of DVDs in the US, including Baker and Taylor, Ingram and VPD distribute Film Movement films.
In Flight Airline Distribution
Film Movement has partnered with Continental Airlines to present Film Movement films on some domestic Continental Airlines flights. Partnerships with additional airlines are in the works.
All Emerging Distribution Channels
This includes all forms of Video on Demand, Internet Downloading, High Definition Television, as well as other emerging technologies. Film Movement has several deals pending that will take advantage of these new mediums.
Subscription Service
Film Movement reaches thousands of film fans every month via its first of a kind DVD of the month subscription service. Subscribers receive an award-winning feature film, along with bonus short film, to own on DVD every month. The monthly releases are selected by our renowned board of curators, made up of programmers from the top festivals and film societies in the country.
