Yasuaki Shimizu

Having learned classical piano since childhood, Shimizu made his solo debut as a saxophonist in 1978, when he also started his career as a composer. Alongside his solo work, he also formed the experimental rock band "Maraia" with whom he released five albums. In 1983 he formed the ensemble "Saxophonettes", further broadening his musical endeavors. In 1985 he moved to France and continued his career on the international stage. Recently, his work includes his own unique approach to the symphonies of J.S. Bach. Shimizu works in a wide variety of areas, including recording and film soundtracks. This is the third time for him to team up with Yanagimachi.
